Are Dating Sites Really Legit? A Real Look at Fake Profiles and Online Dating Scams

Are there any genuine dating sites out there on the internet? I ask this because someone at my place of work got scammed for a 4 figure sum. I used to use dating sites a lot in the past but didn't let on to my colleague. Have you ever noticed on these website's adverts there's always a picture of an extremely attractive smiling woman or man? They never look like the average person, whatever that is. This is the dating site's fake hook which they use to reel unsuspecting people in. The truth is that woman (or man) are not on that site and very few if any of the people on that site will look anything like them. The dating websites want to attract people. The more people they have on their books the more money they make through subscriptions and possibly advertising.
Someone will not subscribe to a dating site that only has 150 - 200 ordinary looking members, which is a lot closer to the truth than any dating sites will admit to but if you go to a site and read something like, ‘150,000 members visit our site daily', you're more likely to join them without even asking yourself if the profiles are genuine. Once there the sites have all kinds of tried and tested underhand methods to keep you there, such as SUE has sent you a message. the man will look at the picture of her and his jawbone will hit the ground hard! But he has to subscribe in order to view her message.
I was talking to a mid 30s woman on a VERY well known dating site. She was slightly overweight and I do mean only about 15 pounds, these were her words. Anyway I told her she was very attractive. Her answer was, 'are you sure you don't work for the site?' Many people are clued up on these sites but not everyone.
And let me not forget you have the SCAMMERS usually from West Africa or Eastern Europe. They're not interested in dating they only want to SCAM as much money from people as possible, using CATFISHING methods, with some success I might add, with fake pictures, knowing there are enough gullible people (mainly Americans and Australians) who will take the bait of an extremely attractive person. The best way to catch a scammer out is to ask for VIDEO CHAT. More than 90% of them will choose from a selection of ready made excuses not to come on video, usually relating to a broken phone, bad reception area or out of data etc.
I, in the past, used a lot of dating sites, some of the worlds most well known, and gained the ability to spot fake profiles very easily. During the lockdown I went to a few of the best known huge sites. All of them were littered with fake profiles. In fact there were so many on one of the sites I wrote to the site in the section to complain about fake profiles. In MANY cases there was more than one profile using the same pictures. Needless to say the sites never got back to me even once. I won't say no one has ever found success on these sites (there are many success stories that have led to marriage) but the sites themselves are very keen to show success stories but say nothing of the many people who have either been scammed or simply had their time wasted. After writing this article, out of interest I went to two WELL KNOWN sizable dating sites. Both of them were infested with easily noticeable fake profiles!

Why Trailers Matter: How 2 Minutes Can Make or Break a Movie

Have you ever clicked “play” on a movie just because the trailer blew you away… only to realize the actual film didn’t live up to the hype? Or the opposite: have you discovered an awesome hidden gem thanks to a trailer that hooked you in the first 10 seconds? Trailers aren’t just previews anymore. In today’s world they’re one of the most powerful marketing tools in film—whether we’re talking big Hollywood blockbusters, indie features, short films, series, documentaries, or content on platforms like Rumble and YouTube. A great trailer can pack theaters, explode views online, or—if it’s done poorly—make people scroll right past even if the movie itself is solid. Today I want to break down why trailers are so important, what separates the killer ones from the flops, how the trailer industry became big business… and how I’m starting to dip my toes into it myself as a total beginner. Why a trailer can sometimes matter more than the movie itself A trailer has one clear job: make you want t...

AI Filmmaking vs Unreal Engine: Why AI Tools Changed Everything

During the lockdown of 2020 I started to take an interest in ANIMATION development. I don't know why because I've never shown an interest in this field before. The idea was I would make short films and perhaps put them on youtube and or elsewhere. I sought out then spent some time studying the most popular, which seemed to be Blender, Maya and Unreal Engine plus their many versions. What did become apparent about all of these tools is (especially from a filmmaking point of view) none of them could be used without outside help. I can't remember following a youtube tutorial where the tutor didn't use one of the above, let's say Unreal Engine, then halfway through take the project to Blender to do something or other then go back to Unreal Engine. I became increasingly frustrated with this approach. After I finished studying I decided on Unreal Engine purely because Maya, although quite useful, priced themselves out of the market for small independent filmmakers and B...

Space Travel vs Science Fiction: Why Intergalactic Colonies Will Never Happen

Why do people have such trouble separating fact from fiction? I've lost count of the amount of times I've read on various social media sites someone writing about us humans leaving our galaxy (Milky Way) and establishing colonies in Andromeda, one of our neighbouring galaxies. According to those that really know about this. Andromeda is 2.2 million light years away. Most of you understand what this means but for the few of you who don't it means even if we were able to travel at light speed (which is 100% impossible for solid matter) it would still take 2.2 million years to get to Andromeda! And that's just the edge of it. This doesn't take into account we would have to find a planet suitable for human habitation. There's no way we could discover this planet from Earth, it's too far away. We have not even discovered life elsewhere in our own galaxy of over 100 billion planets, which is only half the size of Andromeda. How many generations of us would co...
